Spicy apple pumpkin cocktail

Würziger Apfel Kürbis-Cocktail

When you set off for your jogging session in the evening, it is already dusk. The air smells bitter and slightly smoky. Small twigs and the first fallen leaves crack under your feet. A breeze hits your hair and for the first time in a long time you wish you had brought your windbreaker with you...

It's clear that in this mood you don't feel like strawberry spritz or another sweet, light summer drink. But luckily you picked up a nice, ripe pumpkin at your fruit and vegetable stand yesterday. Can you mix something nice with it for a cooldown at home? One can!

The apple and pumpkin cocktail always tastes good, but with its spicy, fruity flavors it fits perfectly into the transitional period between summer and autumn. Apple and pumpkin are now in abundance, honey provides a touch of sweetness, which is tempered by sparkling mineral water. The eyes drink too, so we garnish the apple and pumpkin cocktail with a few remaining apple slices and dust some cinnamon over it. Mmmmm!

Apple pumpkin cocktail

You need this:

  • 1 wedge of ripe, soft Hokkaido pumpkin (about the length of your middle finger)

  • 1-2 pinches of cinnamon

  • 50 ml naturally cloudy apple juice

  • 15 ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  • 1 tbsp liquid honey

  • cold mineral water

  • Apple slices and cinnamon for decoration

  • optional: ice cubes

  • optional: 2 cl vodka

It's that easy:

  1. Remove the peel from the pumpkin pulp, cut it into small pieces and crush it into a puree using a mortar or similar. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

  2. Pour into a shaker with apple juice, lemon juice and honey and shake vigorously.

  3. Strain through a sieve into the glass, pour in mineral water and place an apple wedge on the edge or let several thin slices float in the drink. Dust a little cinnamon on top if desired.

  4. If you want it colder, add ice cubes. If you want something more alcoholic, add a sip of vodka. And if you want to take the drink with you, fill it into the FLSK drinking bottle.
