What are we celebrating? Well, that we are alive and together. And that the world serves us a new adventure every day. The best way to do this is with a fruity aperitif like the Birds Spritz, which tingles the tongue with its fresh flavours and broadens our horizons.
Our friends from Birds Gin inspired us to create this spritz recipe, which we of course pass on to you right away! Their gin, created as a project of heart on a trip around the world, is something very special: handmade in Germany, inspired by the world.
You can taste it too: 15 well-travelled botanicals from 5 continents bring the flavours of jungle pepper, baobab and cardamom to your roof terrace. Mixed with a light wine and some grapefruit juice, the result is an aromatic explosion of flavours, perfect for hot summer evenings.
We also think it's great that a tree is planted for every bottle of Birds Gin sold. By doing so, Birds supports reforestation in countries like Ethiopia and Indonesia, which have been hit hard by climate change. In this way, founders Lupo and Basti want to give local farmers an income and a perspective. Drinking for a good cause? We're on board with that!
That's what you need:
- 2 cl BIRDS Dry Gin
- 4 cl grapefruit juice
- 6 cl white wine, e.g. Riesling
- Ice cube
- 1 slice grapefruit
It's that simple:
- Mix the BIRDS Dry Gin with the grapefruit juice in a glass.
- Add about 3 ice cubes and pour in the wine.
- Garnish with a thin slice of grapefruit.
