Now it's getting elegant and a bit British! May we inspire you to browse your tea shelf? You'll definitely find some Earl Grey, the black tea flavored with bergamot. It's ideal for giving the classic and, if we're honest, slightly outdated cocktail veteran Gin Tonic a fabulous new flavor.
The bergamot brings a sour, citrusy note into play. When this meets the bitter tonic and the botanicals (herbs, leaves, seeds, berries, roots) of the gin, a taste explosion occurs in the mouth. Those who like to experiment can try out different types of gin. For example, we particularly like a gin containing spruce needles in the Earl Gray Gin Tonic. Conclusion: A surprising drink with style and class.
You need this:
-
1 lemon, untreated
-
Ice cubes
-
1 cl freshly brewed Earl Gray tea, cooled
-
3 cl gin
-
200 ml tonic
-
1 dash of agave syrup, maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice
-
1 sprig of thyme
It's that easy:
-
Wash the lemon and cut it in half. Squeeze out about 1 cl of lemon juice.
-
Put ice cubes in a glass. Pour in lemon juice, cold tea, gin, tonic and sweetener to taste.
-
Stir and put a sprig of thyme in the glass. If you like, you can also add a slice of lemon.
Tip: Surprise your circle of friends and bring a round of Earl Gray Gin and Tonic to your next meeting. Simply use a larger FLSK drinking bottle - a worthy transport container for this fine cocktail.
